In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Al-Nawawi records in his book Riyad us-Saliheen:
Abu Sa’eed Al-Mu’alla reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
I will teach you the greatest chapter in the Quran before you leave the mosque.
He took hold of my hand and when he intended to leave, I said to him, “Did you not say that you would teach me the greatest chapter in the Quran?” The Prophet said:
All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds (1:1), which are the seven oft-repeated verses and the great recitation which has been given to me.

Is it difficult for one of you to recite a third of the Quran in a single night?
That was difficult for them, so they said, “Which one of us can do that, O Messenger of Allah?” The Prophet said:

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would seek refuge from the devils and the evil eye of mankind until the two chapters of refuge (surah al-falaq and surah an-nas) were revealed, so when they were revealed he took both of them and left everything else.

O Abu Mundhir, do you know the greatest verse in the book of Allah?

Allah, there is no God but Him, the Living, the Sustainer. (2:255)
