In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Al-Nawawi records in his book Riyad us-Saliheen:
Abu Umamah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
Recite the Quran, for on the Day of Resurrection it will come as an intercessor for its reciters.

An-Nawwas ibn Sam’an reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
The Quran and its people who acted upon it will be brought forth on the Day of Resurrection, preceded by Surah Al-Baqarah and Surah Ali Imran.

Uthman bin Affan reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
The best of you are those who learn the Quran and teach it.

Aisha reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
The example of those who recite the Quran and memorize it is that of one who is with the ‘righteous and noble scribes’ (80:15); and the example of one who recites the Quran with great difficulty is that of one who receives a double reward.

Abu Musa Al-Ashari reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
The example of a believer who recites the Quran is that of a citrus fruit which tastes good and smells good; and one who does not recite the Quran is like a date which tastes good but has no smell. The example of a wicked person who recites the Quran is that of basil which smells good but tastes bitter; and a wicked person who does not recite the Quran is that of a vine which tastes bitter and has no smell.

Umar ibn Al-Khattab reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
Verily, Allah raises the status of people with this Book and he humiliates others.

Abdullah ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
There is no envy except in two cases: a man whom Allah has given this Book so he stands to recite it during the day and night, and a man whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it during the day and night.

Al-Bara reported: A man was reciting the chapter of the cave (surah al-kahf) and there was a horse tied with two ropes at his side, a cloud overshadowed him, and it came nearer and nearer as his horse became frightened of it. He went to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in the morning and mentioned that to him. The Prophet said:
Continue reciting. Verily, that was tranquility which came down for the recitation of the Quran.

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah, he will receive one good deed as ten good deeds like it. I do not say that alif-lam-meem is one letter, but rather alif is a letter, lam is a letter, and meem is a letter.

Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
Verily, one who does not memorize anything from the Quran is like a ruined house.

Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
It will be said to the companion of the Quran: Recite and ascend as you recited in the world, for your rank is determined by the last verse you recite.
