Hadith on Zuhd: The Prophet supplicates only for basic needs

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “O Allah, make provision for the family of Muhammad sufficiently nourishing.

Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi (authenticity agreed upon) according to Al-Bukhari and Muslim

Ibn Battal said, “This narration is evidence for the virtue of desiring only sufficiency and taking only what is needed from the world, renouncing what is more than that, and hoping for the abundance of pleasures in the Hereafter.”
