Hadith on Hijrah: No obligatory emigration after end of persecution

‘Ata bin Abi Rabah reported: I visited Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, with ‘Ubayd bin ‘Umayr to ask her about emigration. Aisha said, “There is no emigration today. One of the believers would flee with his religion to Allah Almighty and to his messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, fearing persecution for it. Today, Allah has made Islam prevail and a believer may worship his Lord wherever he wishes. Rather, there is only jihad and good intentions.”

Al-Mawardi said, “If one is able to manifest the religion in a land among the lands of unbelief, then it has become by it a land of Islam. For the establishment of religion in it is better than travelling away from it, in hopes that others will enter into Islam.”
