Hadith on Faith: Example of believers who endure trials

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The parable of the believer is a fresh plant, the leaves of which rustle in whatever direction the wind takes them, but when the winds calm down, it returns to its balance. Such is the parable of the believer who endures trials. The parable of the unbeliever is that of a firm pine tree, unbending until Allah shatters it as He wills.

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ كَمَثَلِ خَامَةِ الزَّرْعِ يَفِيءُ وَرَقُهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ أَتَتْهَا الرِّيحُ تُكَفِّئُهَا فَإِذَا سَكَنَتِ اعْتَدَلَتْ وَكَذَلِكَ الْمُؤْمِنُ يُكَفَّأُ بِالْبَلَاءِ وَمَثَلُ الْكَافِرِ كَمَثَلِ الْأَرْزَةِ صَمَّاءَ مُعْتَدِلَةً حَتَّى يَقْصِمَهَا اللهُ إِذَا شَاءَ
