Hadith on Shi’r: The Prophet listens to a hundred verses of poetry

Al-Sharid ibn Suwayd reported: I was riding with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, one day and he said, “Do you havee anything of the poetry of Umayyah ibn Abi al-Salt?” I said yes. The Prophet said, “Carry on.” I recited a couplet and the Prophet said, “Carry on.” Then I recited another couplet and the Prophet said, “Carry on,” until I recited one hundred couplets.
