Abu ‘Ubayd reported: Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, said, “O people, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, has prohibited you from fasting on the days of these two celebrations, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. One of them is the day you break your fast and the other is the day you eat from your sacrifices.”
