Hadith on Jihad: Do not wish for war, ask Allah for safety

Abdullah ibn Abi Awfa reported: On the days the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, faced the enemy in battle, he waited until the sun had set, then he stood in front of the people. The Prophet said, “O people, do not desire to meet the enemy, but rather ask Allah for safety. If you meet your enemy in battle, be patient and know that Paradise is under the shade of swords.” Then, the Prophet said, “O Allah, the Revealer of the Book, the Mover of the clouds, the Defeater of the confederates! Defeat the unbelievers and grant us victory.”
