Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas reported: I said, “O Messenger of Allah, what do you advise if someone invades my home and stretches forth his hand to kill me?” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Be like the son of Adam.”
Yazid recited the verse, “If you raise your hand to kill me, I will not raise mine to kill you, because I fear Allah—the Lord of all worlds,” (5:28).

Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Arna’ut
Imam al-Sindi commented, “‘Be like the son of Adam,’ meaning that patience in such circumstances is better than taking action, because acting would only increase the turmoil. There are differences over the issue, but many scholars have taken the literal meaning of the hadith.”
