Hadith on Laughter: Why make My servants despair?

Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, came out to a group of his companions while they were laughing and talking. The Prophet said, “By the One in whose hand is my soul, if you knew what I knew, you would laugh little and weep often.” The Prophet departed and people started weeping, so Allah Almighty revealed to him, “O Muhammad, why have you made My servants despair?” The Prophet returned and he said, “Give glad tidings, follow the right course, and seek nearness to Allah.”
