Aisha reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, women are the counterparts of men.”

Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Albani
Imam al-Khattabi commented, “His saying that ‘women are counterparts of men‘ means their equals and their likeness in creation and nature, as if they split off from men. In jurisprudence, it is an affirmation of the principle of analogy and equivalence in rulings, same by same, such that if the address is conveyed in the male grammatical form, it is also addressed to women, except for special topics whose specification is established by evidence.”
