Aisha reported: Things that disrupt the prayer were mentioned in her presence, saying, “A dog, a donkey, and a woman disrupt the prayer.” Aisha said, “You have turned us into dogs! I have seen the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, praying while I was between him and the direction of prayer, lying on the bed. If I needed something, I disliked to face him directly, then I would slip away quietly.”

Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi (authenticity agreed upon) according to Al-Bukhari and Muslim
Imam al-Qastallani commented, “If a woman does not disrupt the prayer—even though souls are naturally disposed to be distracted by her—then anything else, such as a dog, a donkey, and the like, is the same or even more so… Al-Shafi’i and others inclined toward interpreting the term ‘disruption of the prayer’ to mean an imperfection of humility, not a total invalidation of the prayer itself.”

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّهُ ذُكِرَ عِنْدَهَا مَا يَقْطَعُ الصَّلَاةَ فَقَالُوا يَقْطَعُهَا الْكَلْبُ وَالْحِمَارُ وَالْمَرْأَةُ قَالَتْ لَقَدْ جَعَلْتُمُونَا كِلَابًا لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي وَإِنِّي لَبَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْقِبْلَةِ وَأَنَا مُضْطَجِعَةٌ عَلَى السَّرِيرِ فَتَكُونُ لِي الْحَاجَةُ فَأَكْرَهُ أَنْ أَسْتَقْبِلَهُ فَأَنْسَلُّ انْسِلَالًا
