Hadith on Trials: Like the son of Adam who was killed, did not kill

Khalid ibn ‘Urfutah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to me, “O Khalid, after me there will be affairs, trials, and differences. If you are able to be like the servant of Allah who was killed but did not kill, then do so.”

عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ عُرْفُطَةَ قَالَ قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا خَالِدُ إِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ بَعْدِي أَحْدَاثٌ وَفِتَنٌ وَاخْتِلَافٌ فَإِنْ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تَكُونَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ الْمَقْتُولَ لَا الْقَاتِلَ فَافْعَلْ
