Abu Musa reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “There were many men who achieved perfection, but none were perfect among women except Asiyah, the wife of Pharaoh, and Mary, the daughter of ‘Imran. Verily, the virtue of Aisha over other women is like the virtue of a fine stew over all other foods.”

Imam Ibn Hajar commented, “It is inferred by this limitation that Asiyah and Mary were both prophets, as the most perfect of human beings are the prophets, followed by the saints, the truthful, and the martyrs. If they were not both prophets, it would necessarily mean that neither sainthood, truthfulness, nor martyrdom are found among women. In reality, these characteristics are found in many of them, so it is as if the Prophet is saying that no one among women was granted prophecy except these two.”
