Hadith on Ghusl: Recommendation to bathe on Friday

Samurah ibn Jundab reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever performs ablution on Friday has done well, but whoever performs a ritual bath has done better.”

Al-Shafi’i said, “The command of the Prophet to perform a ritual bath on Friday indicates a preference for it, not an obligation.”
