Hadith on Taqwa: Peak piety to leave permissible things, fearing sin

‘Atiyyah al-Sa’di reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The servant will not reach the level of the truly righteous until he leaves harmless things due to caution they might be harmful.”

عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ السَّعْدِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَبْلُغُ الْعَبْدُ أَنْ يَكُونَ مِنْ الْمُتَّقِينَ حَتَّى يَدَعَ مَا لَا بَأْسَ بِهِ حَذَرًا لِمَا بِهِ الْبَأْسُ
