Hadith on Quran: Companions recite Surat al-‘Asr before parting

Abu Madinah reported: Whenever two men among the companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would meet, they would not part until one of them recited to the other, “By the time, surely mankind is in loss,” (103:1) and the other would bid him farewell with peace.

عَنْ أَبِي مَدِينَةَ الدَّارِمِيِّ قَالَ كَانَ الرَّجُلَانِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا الْتَقَيَا لَمْ يَفْتَرِقَا حَتَّى يَقْرَأَ أَحَدُهُمَا عَلَى الْآخَرِ وَالْعَصْرِ إِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍ ثُمَّ يُسَلِّمُ أَحَدُهُمَا عَلَى الْآخَرِ
