Ibn ‘Asakir reported: Iyas ibn Mu’awiyah, may Allah have mercy on him, said, “No man cannot recognize the defects in his own soul but that he is the greatest of fools.” It was said, “O Abu Wathilah, what is your defect?” Iyas said, “Speaking too much.”
