Makhul reported: When Allah blessed David with Solomon, peace be upon him, he said, “O my son, what is the most beautiful?” Solomon said, “The tranquility of Allah and faith.” David said, “What is the ugliest?” Solomon said, “Unbelief after faith.” David said, “What is the sweetest?” Solomon said, “The spirit of Allah among His servants.” David said, “What is the most refreshing?” Solomon said, “That Allah forgives people and people forgive each other.” David, peace be upon him, said, “You are a prophet indeed.”
