Ibn Mas’ud on Tawbah: Allah accepts repentance for adultery, fornication

‘Alqamah reported: Abdullah Ibn Mas’ud, may Allah be pleased with him, was asked about a man who has illicit intercourse with a woman and then marries her. Abdullah recited the verse, “Those who do evil deeds and thereafter repent and have faith, your Lord after that is forgiving and merciful.” (7:153) Abdullah recited the verse ten times, but he did not command them or prohibit them from doing so.
