Fudayl on Mercy: Whoever forgives others has defeated Satan

Abu Razin reported: A man came to Al-Fudayl ibn Bazwan, may Allah have mercy on him, and he said, “Indeed, a man has slandered you!” Al-Fudayl said, “Verily, I will infuriate the one who commanded him! May Allah forgive me and forgive him.” It was said, “Who has commanded him?” Al-Fudayl said, “Satan.” Ibn Farafisah said, “Whoever seeks forgiveness for his oppressor has defeated Satan.”
