Ali ibn Rabah reported: Amr ibn al-‘As, may Allah be pleased with him, said, “I am bewildered by a man who flees from the divine decree and is in battle with it. He sees the mote in the eye of his brother, yet he places a beam in his own eye. He brings out resentment in the soul of his brother, yet places resentment within his own self.”
