Sufyan on Sins: Hope for repentance, fear for sins

Abu Nu’aym reported: Sufyan ibn ‘Uyaynah, may Allah have mercy on him, said, “Whoever commits a sin due to desire, hope for his repentance. Verily, Adam, upon him be peace, disobeyed due to desire and he was forgiven. If a sin is committed due to pride, fear that the perpetrator may be cursed. Verily, Iblis disobeyed due to pride and he was cursed.”
