Ibn Mas’ud on Sincerity: Ask Allah to guide sinners, not curse them

Abu ‘Ubaydah reported: Ibn Mas’ud, may Allah be pleased with him, said, “If you see a man among you seduced into a sin, then neither supplicate to Allah against him nor curse him. Rather, supplicate for Allah to save him and to accept his repentance. When we saw a man do good at the end of his life, we would hope for him. When we saw a man do evil at the end of his life, we would fear for him.”
