Buraydah reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, prayed multiple prayers on the day of liberation with a single ablution and he wiped over his leather socks. Umar said to him, “You have done something today you have not used to do.” The Prophet said, “I have done it on purpose, O Umar.”

Al-Tirmidhi said, “This was acted upon by the scholars, that they would pray multiple prayers with a single ablution as long as they did not become ritually impure. Some of them would perform ablution at the time of every prayer as a recommend practice and intending its virtues.”
