Hadith on Rahmah: The Prophet more merciful to us than ourselves

Umaymah bint Ruqayqah reported: I pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, with a group of women. The Prophet said to us, “In so far as you are able and capable.” I said, “Allah and his messenger are more merciful to us than we are to ourselves.” And I said, “O Messenger of Allah, accept our pledge,” meaning shake our hands. The Prophet said, “Verily, my statement to one hundred women is like my statement to one woman.

In another narration, the Prophet said, “Verily, I do not shake hands with women.”
