Al-‘Ala ibn al-Musayyib reported: A horse was stolen from Al-Rabia’, may Allah have mercy on him, so the people sitting with him said, “Pray to Allah Almighty against him!” Al-Rabia’ said, “No, rather I will pray for him. O Allah, if he was rich, turn his heart. If he was poor, enrich him.”

عَنْ الْعَلاء بْن الْمُسَيَّبِ قَالَ سُرِقَ لِلرَّبِيعِ رحمه الله فَرَسٌ فَقَالَ أَهْلُ مَجْلِسِهِ ادْعُ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ بَلْ أَدْعُو اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَهُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كَانَ غَنِيًّا فَأَقْبِلْ بِقَلْبِهِ وَإِنْ كَانَ فَقِيرًا فَأَغْنِهِ
