Hadith on Salat: The Prophet’s delight in his prayers

Anas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Beloved to me in the world are women and perfume, yet the delight of my eyes was made in prayer.”

Imam al-Munawi commented, “His love for women and perfume does not contradict asceticism, for asceticism is not forbidding what is lawful… The Prophet was busy receiving revelations from Allah and minding good manners. He did not have free time for anything else. Hence, women were made beloved to him due to Allah’s care for them, so his love for them is an extension of Allah’s love for them, as Allah is beautiful and He loves beauty.”
