Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, the diseases of nations will afflict my nation.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, what are the diseases of nations?” The Prophet said, “Insolence, hubris, turning their backs to one another, competing for worldly possessions, hating each other, and miserliness, until there will be oppression and then there will be bloodshed.”

Imam al-San’ani commented, “That is, hostility, enmity, malice, hatred, and envy for each other, which is to hope others are deprived of blessings.”
