Hadith on Trials: Believer purified by illness like iron in a fire

Abdur Rahman ibn Azhar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, the parable of the believer, when he is afflicted by illness or fever, is that of a piece of iron placed in the fire; its defects vanish while its purities remains.”

عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَزْهَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ حِينَ يُصِيبُهُ الْوَعْكُ أَوِ الْحُمَّى كَمَثَلِ حَدِيدَةٍ تُدْخَلُ النَّارَ فَيَذْهَبُ خَبَثُهَا وَيَبْقَى طَيِّبُهَا
