Ibn Abi Nu’m reported: I watched Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, as he was asked about a man killing mosquitoes. Ibn Umar said, “Where are you from?” The man said, “The people of Iraq.” Ibn Umar said, “Look at this man! He asks me about killing mosquitoes when they killed the grandsons of the Prophet? I heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say: They are my two sweet-basils in the world.”

عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي نُعْمٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ شَاهِدًا لِابْنِ عُمَرَ رضي الله عنه وَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ عَنْ دَمِ الْبَعُوضِ فَقَالَ مِمَّنْ أَنْتَ فَقَالَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ قَالَ انْظُرُوا إِلَى هَذَا يَسْأَلُنِي عَنْ دَمِ الْبَعُوضِ وَقَدْ قَتَلُوا ابْنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَسَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ هُمَا رَيْحَانَتَايَ مِنْ الدُّنْيَا
