Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Five sins come with five afflictions: People do not violate their covenant except that their enemies are given power over them. They do not judge with anything other than Allah’s revelation except that poverty will be spread among them. Obscenity does not prevail among them except that death will be spread among them. They do not cheat in measurements except that crops are prevented from growing, so they suffer years of drought. They do not withhold the obligatory charity except that the sky will hold back its rain.”

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَمْسٌ بِخَمْسٍ مَا نَقَضَ قَوْمٌ الْعَهْدَ إِلا سُلِّطَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَدُوُّهُمْ وَمَا حَكَمُوا بِغَيْرِ مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ إِلا فَشَا فِيهِمُ الْفَقْرُ وَلا ظَهَرَتْ فِيهِمُ الْفَاحِشَةُ إِلا فَشَا فِيهِمُ الْمَوْتُ وَلا طفَّفُوا الْمِكْيَالَ إِلا مُنِعُوا النَّبَاتَ وَأُخِذُوا بِالسِّنِينَ وَلا مَنَعُوا الزَّكَاةَ إِلا حُبِسَ عَنْهُمُ الْقَطْرُ
