Hadith on Angels: Guided by humility, humbled by arrogance

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “There is no human being but that over his head are reins in the hands of an angel. If he is humble, it is said to the angel: Raise up his reins! If he is haughty, it is said to the angel: Lower his reins!

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا مِنْ آدَمِيٍّ إِلا فِي رَأْسِهِ حَكَمَةٌ الْحَكَمَةُ بِيَدِ مَلَكٍ فَإِنْ تَوَاضَعَ قِيلَ لِلْمَلَكِ ارْفَعْ حَكَمَتَهُ وَإِنِ ارْتَفَعَ قِيلَ لِلْمَلَكِ ضَعْ حَكَمَتَهُ
