Tariq ibn al-Ashyam reported: Whenever a man embraced Islam, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would teach him the prayer. Then, the Prophet instructed him to supplicate with these words, “O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, grant me wellness, and provide for me.” The Prophet brought his fingers together, saying, “Verily, these words encompass your worldly life and your Hereafter.”

عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ الْأَشْيَمِ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ قَالَ كَانَ الرَّجُلُ إِذَا أَسْلَمَ عَلَّمَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الصَّلَاةَ ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَدْعُوَ بِهَؤُلَاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَارْحَمْنِي وَاهْدِنِي وَعَافِنِي وَارْزُقْنِي وَيَجْمَعُ أَصَابِعَهُ إِلَّا الْإِبْهَامَ فَإِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ تَجْمَعُ لَكَ دُنْيَاكَ وَآخِرَتَكَ
