Hadith on Wudu: Will you ask me why I laughed?

Uthman ibn Affan reported: I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, call for water and perform ablution, then he laughed. The Prophet said, “Will you not ask me what made me laugh?” They said, “What made you laugh, O Messenger of Allah?” The Prophet said, “Verily, when the servant performs ablution and washes his face, Allah removes every sin he committed with his face. Likewise, when he washes his arms, wipes his head, and cleanses his feet.

عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ ضَحِكَ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَسْأَلُونِي مَا أَضْحَكَنِي فَقَالُوا مَا أَضْحَكَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ إِذَا دَعَا بِوَضُوءٍ فَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ حَطَّ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ كُلَّ خَطِيئَةٍ أَصَابَهَا بِوَجْهِهِ فَإِذَا غَسَلَ ذِرَاعَيْهِ كَانَ كَذَلِكَ وَإِنْ مَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ كَانَ كَذَلِكَ وَإِذَا طَهَّرَ قَدَمَيْهِ كَانَ كَذَلِكَ
