Haith on Jihad: No divine reward in fighting for spoils of war

‘Ubadah ibn al-Samit reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever joins a military campaign in the way of Allah with no intention but to acquire as much as a rope in spoils, he will only have what he intended.
