Hadith on Talaq: Prohibition of divorcing women during menstruation

Ibn Umar reported: He divorced his wife in the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, while she menstruating. Umar ibn al-Khattab asked the Prophet about that and he said, “Order him to return her. Let him leave her alone until she becomes pure, then menstruates, and then is pure again. If he wishes, he may keep her or divorce her before he is intimate with her. That is the waiting period Allah has commanded for divorcing women.” (65:1)
