‘Abd al-Razzaq reported: A slave girl belonging to Ali ibn al-Husyan, may Allah be pleased with him, poured out some water as he prepared to pray and she dropped the pitcher onto his face causing an injury. She said, “Allah Almighty says: Those who restrain their anger (3:134)!” Ali said, “I have restrained my anger.” She said, “And those who forgive people!” Ali said, “Allah has forgiven you.” She said, “And Allah loves those who do good!” Ali said, “Go, for you are now free.”

عَنْ عَبْد الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ جَعَلَتْ جَارِيَةٌ لِعَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ رضي الله عنه تَسْكَبُ عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءَ فَتَهَيَّأَ لِلصَّلَاةِ فَسَقَطَ الْإِبْرِيقُ مِنْ يَدِ الْجَارِيَةِ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ فَشَجَّهُ فَرَفَعَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ رَأْسَهُ إِلَيْهَا فَقَالَتِ الْجَارِيَةُ إِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَقُولُ وَالْكَاظِمِينَ الْغَيْظَ فَقَالَ لَهَا قَدْ كَظَمْتُ غَيْظِي قَالَتْ وَالْعَافِينَ عَنِ النَّاسِ فَقَالَ لَهَا قَدْ عَفَا اللهُ عَنْكِ قَالَتْ وَاللهُ يُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِينَ قَالَ اذْهَبِي فَأَنْتِ حُرَّةٌ
