Anas reported: A Jewish man invited the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, to a meal of barley bread and stale meat, so the Prophet accepted his invitation.

Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Arna’ut
Imam al-Zarkashi al-Hanbali commented, “This tradition contains permission to congratulate them, console them, and visit them… but the invitation must not involve any vices. If there are vices, such as musical instruments and wine drinking that one cannot avoid, it should not be attended.”
