Al-Qurtubi reported: Talhah ibn Umar said to ‘Ata’, may Allah have mercy on him, “Indeed, you are a man whom people of various whims gather around and I am a man who has a temper. I would say harsh words to them.” ‘Ata’ said, “Do not do so! Allah Almighty said: Speak good words to people (2:83). This verse includes Jews and Christians, so how about the true monotheists?”
