Bakr ibn Abdullah reported: Talq ibn Habib, may Allah have mercy on him, said, “Godfearing righteousness is to act in obedience to Allah upon a light from Allah, hoping in the mercy of Allah. Godfearing righteousness is to abandon disobedience to Allah upon a light from Allah, fearing the punishment of Allah.”

عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ طَلْقُ بْن حَبِيبٍ رحمه الله التَّقْوَى عَمَلٌ بِطَاعَةِ اللَّهِ عَلَى نُورٍ مِنَ اللَّهِ رَجَاءَ رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ وَالتَّقْوَى تَرْكُ مَعْصِيَةِ اللَّهِ عَلَى نُورٍ مِنَ اللَّهِ خِيفَةَ عِقَابِ اللَّهِ
