Hadith on Death: Aisha’s Godfearing humility on her deathbed

Ibn Abi Mulaykah reported: Ibn Abbas asked permission to see Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, before her death while she was overcome with suffering. Aisha said, “I am afraid he will praise me.” It was said, “He is the cousin of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and a prominent Muslim.” Aisha said, “Give him permission.” Ibn Abbas said, “How do you find yourself?” Aisha said, “I am good, if I fear Allah.” Ibn Abbas said, “You are good, if Allah wills. You are the wife of the Messenger of Allah. He married no virgin besides you. Your innocence was revealed from heaven.” Ibn al-Zubayr entered after him and Aisha said, “Ibn Abbas visited and praised me. I wish I was a thing forgotten!”
