‘Imran al-Minqari reported: I said one day to Al-Hasan al-Basri, may Allah be pleased with him, about something he claimed, “O Abu Sa’id, this is not as the jurists say!” Al-Hasan said, “Woe to you! Do you think of yourself as merely a jurist? Surely, the true jurist is only one who renounces the world by seeking the Hereafter, insightful in the matters of his religion, and constantly worshiping his Lord.”
