Abdullah ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever drinks wine, Allah will not accept his prayer for forty mornings, but if he repents, Allah will accept his repentance. If he does it again, Allah will not accept his prayer for forty mornings, but if he repents, Allah will accept his repentance. If he does it again, Allah will not accept his prayer for forty mornings, but if he repents, Allah will accept his repentance. If he does it again a fourth time, Allah will not accept his prayer for forty mornings and if he repents, Allah will not accept his repentance. He will drink from a river of pus in Hell.”

Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Albani
Al-Tibi said, “His saying if he repents that Allah will not accept his repentance, it is interpreted as his doing so stubbornly or at the time of his death. The unacceptability of repentance is necessitated at the time of death upon unbelief or sinful disobedience.”
