Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “There will be a civil war in which the one asleep is better than one lying down, the one lying down is better than the one sitting, the one sitting is better than the one standing, the one standing is better than the one walking, the one walking is better than the one riding, and the one riding is better than the one running. All of those killed on both sides are in the Hellfire.” I said, “O Messenger of Allah, when will that happen?” The Prophet said, “Those are the days of slaughter.” I said, “When are the days of slaughter?” The Prophet said, “When a man is not safe in his own gathering.” I said, “What do you order me to do if I witness that?” The Prophet said, “Restrain yourself and your hands, and stay in your building.” I said, “O Messenger of Allah, what do you say if a man breaks into my building?” The Prophet said, “Go into your home.” I said, “What do you say if he invades my home?” The Prophet said, “Go into your prayer room and do like this,” and he grasped his elbow with his right hand, “And say ‘my Lord is Allah’ until you die upon that.”

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْن مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَكُونُ فِتْنَةٌ النَّائِمُ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْمُضْطَجِعِ وَالْمُضْطَجِعُ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْقَاعِدِ وَالْقَاعِدُ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْقَائِمِ وَالْقَائِمُ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْمَاشِي وَالْمَاشِي خَيْرٌ مِنَ الرَّاكِبِ وَالرَّاكِبُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْمُجْرِي قَتْلَاهَا كُلُّهَا فِي النَّارِ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَمَتَى ذَلِكَ قَالَ ذَلِكَ أَيَّامَ الْهَرْجِ قُلْتُ وَمَتَى أَيَّامُ الْهَرْجِ قَالَ حِينَ لَا يَأْمَنُ الرَّجُلُ جَلِيسَهُ قُلْتُ فَمَا تَأْمُرُنِي إِنْ أَدْرَكْتُ ذَلِكَ قَالَ اكْفُفْ نَفْسَكَ وَيَدَكَ وَادْخُلْ دَارَكَ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ دَخَلَ رَجُلٌ عَلَيَّ دَارِي قَالَ فَادْخُلْ بَيْتَكَ قُلْتُ أَفَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ بَيْتِي قَالَ فَادْخُلْ مَسْجِدَكَ وَاصْنَعْ هَكَذَا وَقَبَضَ بِيَمِينِهِ عَلَى الْكُوعِ وَقُلْ رَبِّيَ اللهُ حَتَّى تَمُوتَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ
