Hadith on Wudu: Washing limbs three times in ablution

Abdullah ibn Amr reported: A man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said, “O Messenger of Allah, how does one perform purification?” The Prophet called for a vessel of water, then he washed his hands three times, then he washed his face three times, then he washed his arms to the elbow three times, then he wiped his head, then he put his fingers around his earlobes, wiping the back with his thumbs and the interior with his index fingers, then he washed his feet three times, each three by three. Then, the Prophet said, “Such is the ablution. Whoever adds to this has sinned and done wrong.

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ الطُّهُورُ فَدَعَا بِمَاءٍ فِي إِنَاءٍ فَغَسَلَ كَفَّيْهِ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ غَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ غَسَلَ ذِرَاعَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ مَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ فَأَدْخَلَ إِصْبَعَيْهِ  السَّبَّاحَتَيْنِ فِي أُذُنَيْهِ وَمَسَحَ بِإِبْهَامَيْهِ عَلَى ظَاهِرِ أُذُنَيْهِ وَبِالسَّبَّاحَتَيْنِ بَاطِنَ أُذُنَيْهِ ثُمَّ غَسَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ قَالَ هَكَذَا الْوُضُوءُ فَمَنْ زَادَ عَلَى هَذَا فَقَدْ أَسَاءَ وَظَلَمَ
