Umar II on Eid: May Allah accept from us and from you

Adham reported: We would say to Umar ibn Abdul Aziz, may Allah have mercy on him, on the two Eids, “May Allah accept good deeds from us and from you, O commander of the faithful.” He would return it to us and he did not reject that from us.

عَنْ أَدْهَمَ قَالَ كُنَّا نَقُولُ لِعُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ رحمه الله فِي الْعِيدَيْنِ تَقَبَّلَ اللهُ مِنَّا وَمِنْكَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَيَرُدُّ عَلَيْنَا وَلَا يُنْكِرُ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْنَا
