Hadith on Trade: Business dealings with unbelievers, idolaters

Abdur Rahman ibn Abi Bakr reported: We were with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, when a tall man from the idolaters came driving sheep. The Prophet said, “Are they for sale, gift, or donation?” The man said, “No, they are for sale.” The Prophet purchased one sheep from him.

Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Bukhari

Ibn Battal said, “Business dealings with the unbelievers is permissible unless it is to sell them something that enemy combatants may use against the Muslims.”
