Abu al-‘Ala’ reported: Uthman ibn al-‘As came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said, “O Messenger of Allah, Satan interferes between me, my prayer, and my recitation, confusing me.” The Prophet said, “Such is Satan, who is called rotten. When you sense him, then seek refuge in Allah from him and puff to your left three times.” Uthman said, “I did so and Allah took him away from me.”
