Abu al-‘Aliyah reported: They said, “O Messenger of Allah, what are the words we just heard you say?” The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “They are words that the Angel Gabriel, upon him be peace, taught me as an expiation for gatherings: Glory be to You, O Allah, with Your Praises. I bear witness there is no God but You, I seek Your forgiveness, and I repent to You.”

عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ الرِّيَاحِيِّ قَالَ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا كَلِمَاتٌ سَمِعْنَاكَ تَقُولُهُنَّ قَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّ كَلِمَاتٌ عَلَّمَنِيهِنَّ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ كَفَّارَةُ الْمَجْلِسِ سُبْحَانَكَ اللهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ
